In November takes place in Sitges a very special event, the Catalonia International Film Festival ("Festival Internacional de Cinema de Catalunya").
This festival dates back to 1968, when a Fantastic and Horror Cinema Festival started. The current festival still focuses on fantastic movies, but nowadays new sections display all kind of films.

The total audience of the festival was 150.000, making it the biggest in the European Fantastic Film Federation. The festival was budgeted at 2,65 million Euro.
The number of features and short films was approx. 400, out of which 71% were European , 17% were from the US, and 12% from other countries (predominantly Asia).

It has a good coverage in all national media, more than 700 press accreditations.
Recognized by FIAPF (International Federation of Film Producers Associations) as Competitive Spezialised Feature Film Festival. The Festival ist a member of the network European Coordination of Film Festivals.
This festival is THE Catalan festival and therefore offers a good starting position from which to enter into dialogue with very important film distributors (Filmax, Manga) and broadcasters (TV 3, Media Park).
In general the festival is covered intensely by the national media.

The festival is really to be recommended for the fields of horror and fantasy films.


Sitges carnival

Last event Dates from 19 till 25 February 2004.



Extravagant costumes can be seen in this stunning street parade which draws 250,000 revellers each year. Sitges Carnival offers some of the most amazing and glamorous drag shows in Europe.



The international rally Barcelona-Sitges of vintage cars.

Last event Dates from 1-3 March 2004.


Participation in last edition of the rally was: 107 vehicles coming from: Catalonia , France ,Valladolid ,Valencia, Madrid ,United States of America, Segovia, Marbella and Holland.

This antique-car race starts off in the gothic gallery of the "Casa de la Ciutat de Barcelona".
They take off from Plaça Sant Jaume to go up the Rambles to Plaça Catalunya, then on to calle Aragó out all the way to Sitges.
The drivers are all dressed in turn-of-the-century clothing.
The streets of Barcelona and Sitges fill up with all kinds of people curiously watching the old vehicles speed by.
